It's not about the player, it's about the codec. google for K-lite codec pack.

I couldn't get it working with the newest version of ffdshow alone but K-Lite worked for me. K-Lite is basically ffdshow + some other shit. Try that one.

Not only that, but K-lite is maintained collection of almost all codecs - chances are, if you have the latest version of this pack, that you will be able to play any audio/video content that's available for download anywhere on the net.

It's like must have.

I have the last version and last version of Xvid. Neither WMV or VLC could play Sarco's vid.

The video doesn't work with Windows Media Player for me at least. K-Lite Standard comes with Media Player Classic and it works fine with that.

It just might be that if you have some separate codec apart from those provided in the K-Lite package that the codecs overlap. Personally I uninstalled any previous versions of ffdshow and ac3filter etc that I had, then rebooted and installed K-Lite Standard.

Working fine for me.
All you need is K-lite. I am using some K-lite mega pack or something like that, all you ever need is in there.

I'm using that and it crashes my WMV and on VLC sound only.

The point is, only thing i would need in reality is XVID standalone and it doesn't work even with that so I have to play the vid through my XBMC media.
